Alfarería de Cera y Taquil

In the villages of Cera and Cachipamba women still shape clay pots, jugs and plates by hand.

Taquil parish, in the north-west of Loja canton, is a land of women potters. In its villages of Cera and Cachipamba women shape clay pots, jugs and plates by hand, with techniques passed down from generation to generation.

Visiting a workshop means watching a piece come to life from the clay, and taking home a handicraft with a story. The route continues to Taquil church and the heritage village of Chuquiribamba.
