Loja prides itself on being Ecuador’s music capital, and this museum, opened in 2004 in the first courtyard of the old Bernardo Valdivieso school, keeps its memory.
Its permanent rooms are devoted to Loja’s great composers, such as Salvador Bustamante Celi and Segundo Cueva Celi, and its archive holds thousands of scores and instruments.
It is a short, endearing visit, ideal for understanding why Loja is called the country’s music capital.
