We are a family hotel in Loja that keeps the spirit of times past in a privileged setting. As you step through our entrance hall, crowned by the family coat of arms, you will find an intimate atmosphere where 18th-century volcanic stone and wooden ceilings tell the story of our city.

Our location is strategic: we are just 10 minutes from the Cathedral and the historic center, yet close enough to nature to enjoy the sound of the Malacatos River. In our neoclassical lounge, surrounded by works of art such as the painting of the "Pilgrimage of El Cisne" and Zuleta furniture, you will find the rest you value.
Our story
In 1917, in San Pedro de la Bendita, a 15-year-old boy began an intense commercial and musical life. Ramón Agustín, son of Augusto Ojeda and Zoila Josefa Alvarado, founded a textile factory, a plant that processed cabuya (agave) fiber and a workshop making wool and cotton clothing.
Later, together with his wife Mercedes Anatolia Córdova Maldonado, he set up a stone grain mill, and he also made percussion caps, cigarettes and handicrafts.
He then joined Agustín Aguirre, Julia Gutiérrez, Humberto Maldonado and Raúl Córdova to build the first electric power plant in the south of the country. It was installed in the parish of San Pedro de la Bendita and ran from 1950 to 1973.
RAMÓN AGUSTÍN OJEDA ALVARADO, "El Cardenal"
Ramón Agustín, a devout and self-taught man, sought to express through music the deep love he felt for the Blessed Virgin Mary as Our Lady of El Cisne.
The Holy Mother of God granted him the grace of serving as choirmaster at the church of San Pedro de la Bendita. When he called upon the Virgin Mary and sang her hymns, people felt the coming of the Virgin and of a spiritual messenger of God; the faithful were filled with the Spirit of God and received the hope and strength that God bestowed at every Holy Mass celebrated in the small village of San Pedro de la Bendita.
That is how Ramón Agustín came, mysteriously, to be called “El Cardenal” (The Cardinal) by the people. The nickname was given to him for his tireless efforts to keep faith in the Blessed Virgin Mary alive. Among his deeply mystical devotions was his unshakable love for Mary, Mother of God, as Our Lady of El Cisne.
The principles and legacy of El Cardenal Ojeda were later handed down from generation to generation. Today the family businesses are run by the third generation.
Vision and progress: through his own company he acquired the first electric power plant in San Pedro de la Bendita (1950–1973) and organized the construction of the water tank that brought drinking water to every home in the parish.
Today, Hotel El Cardenal is run by the third generation of the family, keeping alive the values of excellence and tradition.

Para asegurar su habitación, el hotel puede solicitar una garantía mediante tarjeta de crédito o un depósito anticipado. Esto nos permite mantener su cupo bloqueado y ofrecerle una recepción ágil a su llegada.
Pago al llegar
Sí, puede liquidar su estancia al momento del check-in. Sin embargo, recomendamos realizar el pago anticipado o registro de tarjeta para garantizar la disponibilidad, especialmente en temporadas de alta demanda o eventos en Loja.
Tarifas y pagos
Todas las tarifas están expresadas en dólares estadounidenses (USD). Las tarifas no incluyen el IVA (15 %), que se suma al total según la legislación ecuatoriana. El pago puede realizarse con tarjeta de crédito, débito o efectivo. Nos reservamos el derecho de modificar las tarifas sin previo aviso.
Cancelación
Tarifa Flexible: cancelación gratuita hasta 5 días antes de la llegada; si cancela después o no se presenta, se cobra el total de la estadía. Tarifa No reembolsable (10 % más económica): se paga el 100 % al reservar y no admite cancelaciones ni cambios de fecha. Al reservar se muestran las condiciones de la tarifa elegida y quedan en su confirmación. Los paquetes especiales y eventos tienen sus propias condiciones.
Modificaciones de reserva
Las modificaciones a reservas existentes están sujetas a disponibilidad y pueden resultar en cambios de tarifa. Para modificar su reserva, contáctenos al menos 48 horas antes de su fecha de llegada.
Niños
Los niños son bienvenidos. De 0 a 2 años: sin costo. De 3 a 12 años: USD 8 por noche. Desde los 13 años: tarifa de adulto. Capacidad por habitación: Triple hasta 4 personas (hasta 2 niños), Doble Twin hasta 3 personas (1 niño) y Matrimonial 2 adultos más un bebé. Los bebés cuentan dentro de la capacidad, salvo en la Matrimonial.
Mascotas
No se admiten mascotas.
Normas de la casa
Se requiere identificación válida (cédula o pasaporte) al momento del check-in. Prohibido fumar en habitaciones y áreas cerradas del hotel. Respetar las horas de silencio (22:00 - 07:00). Capacidad máxima por habitación según tipo reservado. El hotel no se hace responsable por objetos de valor no depositados en caja fuerte.
Restricciones alimentarias
Si tiene alguna necesidad especial (dieta sin gluten o vegetariana), por favor infórmenos al momento de su reserva.
Facturación
Sí. Somos un establecimiento formalmente registrado. Al momento de su reserva o ingreso, puede proporcionarnos sus datos de facturación (RUC, Cédula o Pasaporte) y emitiremos el comprobante correspondiente para sus registros contables o de viaje.
Responsabilidad
Hotel El Cardenal se esfuerza por proporcionar servicios de alta calidad, sin embargo: No nos hacemos responsables por pérdidas o daños a pertenencias personales. Los huéspedes son responsables de cualquier daño causado a la propiedad del hotel. No somos responsables por interrupciones de servicios debido a causas de fuerza mayor. El hotel se reserva el derecho de negar servicio o solicitar que un huésped abandone las instalaciones en caso de comportamiento inapropiado.

Ley aplicable
Estos Términos y Condiciones se rigen por las leyes de la República del Ecuador. Cualquier disputa será resuelta en los tribunales competentes de Loja, Ecuador.
