Iglesia de Santo Domingo

A church from 1557 whose twin towers survived the 1867 earthquake, with murals by Friar Enrique Mideros.

Santo Domingo church was built in 1557. The 1867 earthquake destroyed it almost entirely: only its twin towers were left standing, and they still mark the skyline of the centre.

Inside, murals painted by Friar Enrique Mideros tell the story of the Dominican order. Visit it on a tour of the centre’s churches, together with the Cathedral and San Francisco.
