Malacatos

A valley with a spring-like climate, highland arabica coffee, sugar-cane mills and bizcochuelos.

  • A unos 31 km al sur

About 31 km south of Loja, on the road to Vilcabamba, the Malacatos valley has a spring-like climate that suits highland arabica coffee and sugar cane. Some mills open their doors to show how panela and cane spirit are made.

The canton’s list of attractions highlights its Sanctuary of the Lord of Charity, the House of the Bizcochuelo, the sancocho, chanfaina and fritada route in Landangui and the guarapo (cane juice) route between Taxiche and Landangui.

It is the first stop on our Coffee Route and on the way to Vilcabamba.
